the wrong treasures
"do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
- matthew 6:19-21
...and where my heart is, there my worries will be.
we worry about our lives, the things that make up our existence. money. love. the unforeseen future. all worldly things that can be so trivial yet absolutely necessary. temporary things. transient happiness. sigh.
i know He will provide, as He does for the birds in the sky and the lilies in the field. and not just food and water, but even the things that are higher up on the maslow's hierarchy of needs.
still, i can't help but worry as i watch the moth, rust, thieves come and pick apart the fragility of the things i have stored here on earth. my heart is in the wrong place right now. i want all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons. the wrong treasures. sigh.
